My Life: Mark Rochman, 12, Surrey

I gave up chocolate, sweets and crisps for a year and got people to sponsor me. I raised 2,000 and then at the end of the year I ate loads and sent the money to Save the Children.

I am paying it 30 a time through Child Link, which is just likesponsoring a child except you're sponsoring a village in Mozambique orEthiopia. I'm sponsoring two at 15 a month each for the next fiveyears. I got the idea because my friend Josh did it, but he did it forfun and wasn't that strict about it.

The first month was really hard. It got a bit easier and by the thirdmonth I was used to it. Then by nine months I was like: "Oh my God thisis nearly up I really want to get something now."

I love sweets, crisps and chocolates loads - they're really nice. Whenthe year was up I woke up at 6.45am. I'd been saving a chocolate M shapethat I'd been given for Christmas in the fridge and ate some of it. Ilost half a stone in the year.
