Our school, Broughshane Primary, is an eco-school and maybe that's why my teacher was very keen for some of us to enter the heats of the Northern Ireland Environmental Youth Speak competition.

So, I started finding out more about the things we were doing wrong andalso the things we should be doing to reduce, reuse and recycle. Thatwas what my speech was about. I was getting more annoyed as I thoughtabout the totally stupid way that we throw out so much that could beused in other ways. There is so much waste that we can't avoid becauseof the way that everything is packaged for us when we buy it - even foodin fast-food shops.

The other thing that annoyed me was that we end up getting new things,like new mobile phones, just because we want something morefashionable.
