Before I was a young reporter, I was lacking in self-belief and doing a dull job.
I had always dreamt of being in the media industry, but knew that I would have to take a big risk and didn't know if it would pay off.
Young reporters write weekly columns for our local newspaper, giving us quality work experience and something to stand out in applications.
The scheme gave me the opportunity to realise that other people believed in me and my abilities.
So I left my job in December 2013 and am now a freelance presenter and broadcast assistant.
I am passionate about getting more young people involved in the Young Reporter scheme because if it can change my life in such a huge way, then it can change others as well.
