Manor Primary School in Ivybridge, Devon, is one of 34 schools taking part in a scheme to see if subject specialisation works in primary schools. The school has been working in a cluster of six to bring music into different subjects. Headteacher Ian Hemelik said: "The impact has been huge in a short time."
He said it had raised the profile of collaborative work and the expectations of parents. "It's created a network of leaders who meet to make decisions about learning. It's made us develop partnerships with others, such as the University of Exeter."
The school used video-conferencing equipment to hold singing sessions with schools in China. Children also added music to a film they made.
