The survey was conducted by the Young NCB Advisory Group. Sixty-two per cent of the 153 young people who took part fear becoming victims of crime, while around 50 per cent are worried about witnessing a crime and more than 80 per cent do not go out alone after dark.
One young person said: "I'm really apprehensive about large groups of young people on the streets due to the bad image they're given by the media. Yet I myself try to go out with large groups in order to feel safe."
