The Children's Workforce Unit will focus on the common core of competencies, skills, knowledge and training for all those who work with children and young people. A common core of skills and knowledge will give the workforce a shared vocabulary and understanding of relevant issues, and help different professionals work together to deliver better outcomes for children, young people and their families.
However, the more specialist competencies and qualifications will continue to be led by the relevant professional body - where there is one - or through the appropriate bodies working together.
The Children's Workforce Unit will work to ensure that links across the sector continue to strengthen. In this particular example, we will work with the General Social Care Council who will develop the relevant training.
