Ministers in Northern Ireland give more cash

Youth Work
Ministers in Northern Ireland have hinted that youth work will get more cash than planned, after allocating an extra 4.6m to the youth and community relations budget.

It follows the Northern Ireland Executive's draft budget, which proposed to reduce funding for youth work by 4.8 per cent in 2008/09, prompting Doug Nicholls, national secretary for youth workers at the union Unite, to describe the allocation as "a kick in the teeth" (CYP Now, 7-13 November 2007).
