Northern Ireland secretary Peter Hain last week announced 25m forthis year and next for children's care, education and health facilities.The move was unveiled as part of the province's draft budget for 2006 to2008.
Hain said the cash would support services including pre-school andextended school activities, childcare and Sure Start. It will also fundefforts to improve children's health and wellbeing.
Siobhan Fitzpatrick, chief executive of early years organisation Nippa,welcomed the move towards more integrated children's services.
Jacqueline O'Loughlin, chief executive of Playboard, the lead agency forchildren's play in Northern Ireland, said she was delighted.
