Mind Pictures and Mind Journeys will enable teenagers with mental health problems to work together and recount their personal experiences through film, writing and graphic design.
The projects will culminate in an exhibition at Bruce Castle Museum to showcase the work produced. The young people's work will also be used by the health services locally.
Colette Turner, senior mental health professional and a trustee at Exposure, said: "Developing a narrative is part of the process of accepting all aspects of who you are - including your mental health problem, appreciating the positives as well as coming to terms with the negatives."
