The 17-year-olds received 3,000 from Staffordshire County Council to create and launch the magazine, called Asian Creation. Mania Hossaini, one of the young people involved, said: "My friends and I decided we wanted Asian young people to be able to express views on issues that are important to them. In the Asian community it is hard to speak out so we want to give Asian young people a tool to do so."
The magazine will include articles on football, intellectuals, the caste system, sexual health and parental trust, and will be sold for 1.50, said Mania, who hopes it will come out quarterly. The young people are also working on creating a magazine web site and will hand out flyers at youth clubs.
