
These are the words of Jessica Anuna, 18, a young writer for south London-based youth magazine Live. During the past year, Jessica has got to interview teen rapper Soulja Boy and learn about what it takes to put a magazine together.
Jessica is one of 100 young people aged between 14 and 21 taking part in the youth magazine programme, which goes out to 20,000 young people every quarter. The magazine was set up by Sam Conniff and Michelle Clothier, who started working on youth communication material for the London Borough of Lambeth when they set up their socially responsible youth marketing agency Livity back in 2001. Lambeth already had a youth magazine but Livity proposed taking it over and getting young people involved in the whole production process from writing articles, to taking photos and laying out pages.
