
Clear-up projects give young people a chance to get outdoors and enjoy the environment while doing their bit to improve the places in which they live.
In Wales, voluntary sector organisation Communities First has been running a series of tidy-up projects for young people. One project in Cwmafan in June saw a group of children and young people link with members of the local male voice choir to clear up litter that had been strewn along a foot and cycle path.
Vicky Prosser, development worker for Communities First in Neath South and Cimla, believes such projects are a great way to bring people together. "They can help break down barriers between different generations as well as improve the community in which they all live," she says.
