Its predecessor, which was also called The London Law Trust was established as a registered charity in 1968, and was a grant-making charitable trust for nearly 40 years.
How much is on offer? At present, investments from the charity mean that it can make grants of around £100,000 a year. It will make individual grants of up to £2,500.
What will it fund? The trust will only make grants for projects in these categories: the prevention and cure of illness and disability in children and young people; the alleviation of illness and disability in children and young people; the encouragement in young people of the qualities of leadership and service to the community. For the first category it will make small grants to fund research, and for the second category it will fund new ventures and small support groups for children suffering from rare conditions. For the third category, it will give grants to mainly national organisations.
