LOCAL DEMOCRACY WEEK: Young people play active role in week

In line with the week's theme of Listening to Tomorrow's Voters Today, students from Warrington secondary schools met local politicians, including Warrington's mayor, Pauline Nelson, on Monday. Students heard how the local political system works and were given the chance to have a say on important issues in the borough.

Teenagers in Camden were due to tackle Labour MPs Frank Dobson and Glenda Jackson in a youth question time this week.

Jake, 11, from the Acland Burghley school in the borough, said: "I want to find out what it's like to be an MP in case I want to be one." Fellow pupil Michael, 13, said: "I want to tell the politicians what young people think and what we want."
