Letters: GP child protection difficulties

In response to the letter "What about clarity for schools?" (Children Now, 16-22 February), following on from the article about the role of GPs in child protection (Children Now, 2-8 February), I would like to add my own opinion.

I believe most professionals in all fields are concerned about child protection. The issue is not that staff want to be paid a personal fee as individuals to attend child protection meetings but the real difficulties some settings face when wanting to send a staff member. It may be that there is no-one else to cover the class or take surgery or no funds available to fund supply staff and so on. (Unless there is a pot of money out there we don't know about?)
