- CRB checks need changing

My daughter is a qualified and experienced nursery nurse and has worked for the same council for at least five years. When her Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check was carried out two years ago there were no incidents recorded against her, which doesn't surprise me as she is a law-abiding person.

But this summer she applied through an agency for work and was interviewed for a post. To her dismay they cannot employ her because her CRB check is for another organisation and cannot be accepted by the agency.

She is now in a position of needing a new check that will take three weeks, by which time the summer holiday will be nearly over. This is a ridiculous situation. Why can't the check be generic to all organisations? Surely a nursery nurse working with other adults present can have her local authority CRB check accepted as a valid document?
