I would hate to see the broad support among family lawyers for the initiative diluted by disagreements over minor details.
I would also like to correct the reference to "mediation".
Following the two group sessions, it is correct that the parents meet with an advisor from the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service. However, this most certainly is not mediation.
My understanding is that the Cafcass officer will, after properly screening for any risk of harm, actively promote and advise on substantial and significant parenting arrangements while making it clear that most children need and want such relationships with both parents.
