Letter: Kinship carer payments

I am tired of people who say foster carers should receive different rates in different parts of the country and then ignore kinship grandparent foster carers on pensions who are more than likely living in a different part of the country from where their grandchildren were taken into care (Children Now, 15-21 March).

In this instance they get paid at the rate of the authority the childrenare from and the payment can be very different from that of theauthority in which they live. Children should come under the authorityin which they live.

And don't tell me that kinship grandparent foster carers should notexpect payment. Grandparents love their grandchildren but the financialresponsibility should not be theirs. They did not choose to start asecond family.
