These programmes change lives: I have spoken with participants and haveseen the formal evaluations. The programme has a huge amount to offerthe education sector in particular. Indeed, the sector benefited frommore than 2,700 grants of EU funding in 2005/06.
We live in a global world and by enabling participants to study, volunteer or work in another European country, the programmes can helppeople to be more ambitious about their futures and find their place inthe world.
The programmes offer opportunities to people of all levels: nurseryschoolchildren; adults who need to improve basic skills; universitystudents; apprentices; and people who are unemployed. Everyone canbenefit.
They offer funding for colleges, youth groups and similar organisationsto link up with others elsewhere in Europe to learn from each other andto develop new ideas.
