Langdon Park Secondary School, London Borough of Tower Hamlets

1 min read Education Extra-curricular
What did they do? Langdon Park Secondary School held a special event for pupils, their families and the local community in July. It was themed Health is Wealth and was put on with the help of School Home Support, a charity that was founded at the school 25 years ago.

Why did they do it? Almost 70 per cent of pupils at Langdon Park are eligible for free school meals, and Tower Hamlets is one of the most deprived boroughs in London, so the event was designed to offer families better access to local services. It was also intended to be a fun day.

Which services took part? The event showcased both local authority and third sector services. NHS health professionals gave free blood pressure checks and Skills Match offered visitors education and training opportunities. The local credit union and a domestic abuse support group were among the other organisations that took part.
