Labour Party Conference: Delegates discuss trusted adult idea

The idea is similar to the concept of the lead professional in Youth Matters and the report is expected to build on the ideas in the green paper. Labour Party conference delegates, who attended a meeting organised by The Foyer Federation, said a trusted adult was preferable to a lead professional.

One speaker said that the term "lead professional" could exclude many who work with young people because they may not have professional status. Maria Eagle, junior youth minister, said this was not the intention and people from all areas, including the voluntary sector, could be lead professionals.
