Key 16 to 19 jobs remain unfilled

Education
Local authorities are facing a shortage of skilled staff to handle the 16 to 19 transfer, the Association of Learning Providers (ALP) has warned.

Paul Eeles, director of 14 to 19 at ALP, told CYP Now that local authorities will have to recruit new, potentially less experienced staff to fill posts that were supposed to be taken over by workers from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). Bob Rollings, industrial officer for the Public and Commercial Services Union, said many LSC staff opted to move to new quangos the Young People's Learning Agency and the Skills Funding Agency instead.
