I recently won 1,500. The prize was offered as part of the Academy Excellence Awards, designed to challenge exceptional students.

I wrote an essay for the English category, exploring the effects of Romantic poetry on environmental debate, and was delighted to be invited for an Inspiration Day at the University of Nottingham.

Workshops were hosted by successful entrepreneurs Catherine Yaffe and Claire Young, a finalist on the TV show The Apprentice.

In the evening, the atmosphere was tense as newsreader Kate Silverton announced the winners of the awards. I was thrilled to hear that I had been chosen as the winner of the English category and that I would receive a placement at marketing group Euro RSCG.
