In just eight weeks' time, we will honour the unsung heroes who work to improve young lives across the UK at the 2009 Children & Young People Now Awards, organised in association with the Children's Workforce Development Council.
A team of judges with expertise from across the sector have examined nearly 500 entries and whittled them down to provide a shortlist for each of the categories, listed here. Congratulations if you've made the cut!
Later this month, a panel of young people will judge the shortlisted entries, with their marks added to the adult judges.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on the evening of Thursday 26 November at the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, west London. Children's Secretary Ed Balls has, for the second year running, enthusiastically accepted our invitation to attend and deliver the keynote speech. The youth act that wins our "Show Opener Contest" will kick off proceedings.
