But there hasn't been much celebrating in the play sector recently, following the Government's response to MP Frank Dobson's review of children's play (Children Now, 26 January-1 February).
This confirmed that 200m in lottery funding for play would not be ring-fenced and would come from a range of lottery distributors from 2006 to 2012. It was widely expected that the money would be distributed over a shorter period, and play projects and local authority play services were banking on the cash.
The fear is that the 200m pot will be substantially diminished, explains Voce, "that if projects have some aspect of children's involvement that could be described as playful, it will get ticked off in the column adding up to 200m. It's not what was promised."
