But the 18-year-old admits that it might not be the first choice for many young men.
"It's not so much that it's not an attractive career," he says. "I've been doing childcare for most of my life but it might not occur to other men that they could be a nursery assistant. Blokes wouldn't see looking after children as an area to try."
Yet the Government is clear on the need to bring more men into the childcare workforce.
At the launch of National Childcare Week last week, David Blunkett, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, stressed the vital role men can play in childcare and children's welfare, while children's minister Beverly Hughes recently revealed plans for the first recruitment campaign aimed largely at men.
