They first worked with each other more than 15 years ago at the ChildPoverty Action Group. There they did a lot of work on the Child SupportAct 1991, including writing publications to tough deadlines. "We knew wecould work under that sort of pressure, we trusted each other's judgmentand shared ideas about policy," says Garnham.
They will share all the responsibilities of running the organisationsince they don't want to divide the role. "A couple of people have saidthat real success is when people have heard the chief executive saysomething but can't remember if it was me or Alison. That's what weaspire to," says Knights.
