Daycare Trust joint chief executive to leave charity

Early Years
Childcare charity Daycare Trust has announced that its chief executive role will no longer be a job share position, in the wake of Emma Knights' decision to step down from her role as joint chief executive.

The charity had considered itself a trailblazer in the sector for putting its principles into practice by promoting high quality part-time work through making the chief executive role a job share. But both joint chief executives have decided to take up full-time roles now their children are older.

Emma Knights will be leaving Daycare Trust in January 2010 to take the role of chief executive at the National Governors' Association.  Alison Garnham, currently also joint chief executive of the charity, will take up the role full-time.

"For me moving from the field of early years education to schools at the National Governors' Association is a natural progression," said Knights. "I will always be behind Daycare Trust's ambition of affordable quality childcare.   I am very pleased to be leaving the organisation in such capable hands."
