Carrying on when one of the teenagers sets fire to the farmhouse heshares with you and your young family takes commitment. But it's whatBrendan McNutt did when in July 1985 he moved from Liverpool to a tinyvillage in rural Wales. His family started living with abused andemotionally damaged teenagers who helped look after the farm and theanimals.
After the fire the teenagers moved to converted barns. But 20 yearslater Bryn Melyn still cares for challenging young people who've oftenbeen turned away by other services. "We operate a non-exclusionguarantee, we always find a way to work with young people," says McNutt,who now heads an organisation with 260 staff in children's homes acrossEngland and Wales.
