Inspections: Hackney takes on young inspectors

Young people in Hackney are training to become inspectors of local youth services.

Initially the young inspectors, aged 13- to 19-years-old, will take part in mystery shopping and peer assessments and feed back their findings to the youth service.

Steve Goodman, deputy director of children and young people's services in Hackney, said the project acknowledged that young people were best placed to determine whether services aimed at them are working.

The trainees will go on to recruit and train the next wave of youth inspectors to allow the project to become self-sufficient.
