Goals: To create stimulating and challenging work for children aged six months to four years, and children and young people with severe learning difficulties

Children with special needs are often excluded from enjoying the pleasures mainstream arts audiences take for granted.

Enter the Oily Cart theatre company in Tooting, south London, which has enabled children and young people with severe learning disabilities, as well as very young children, to experience the stage since 1981.

To do this, the company developed multi-sensory productions that use scent and touch as much as sight and hearing.
