The group has been set up by agencies including the Local E-GovernmentStandards Body and has already held its first meeting, Children Nowunderstands.
It is advising officials in the Department for Education and Skills onthe potential benefits of imposing a national standard for informationsharing on local authorities. It is thought that such a standard couldend confusion among councils over what form their systems shouldtake.
A source close to the task force said: "The body has set up a group thatis meeting and trying to put together what a national protocol wouldlook like."
News of the task force's formation comes a week after children'sprofessionals were issued with the first ever cross-government guidanceon information sharing in respect of children and young people.
