1 min read
The implementation of information-sharing laws will be delayed in Scotland following the executive's decision to drop them from child protection legalisation.

This news comes as MSPs vote on the Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Billthis week.

This legislation will set out a framework for introducing a new vettingand barring scheme for those working or applying to work withchildren.

Measures on information sharing, which were not consulted on butcomprised a key part of the Bill, define what constitutes childprotection information and impose a duty on professionals to shareinformation.

However, critics had called for the section to be dropped, warning thedefinitions were too vague and could prove unworkable.

They now expect the measures to be taken forward, as originally planned, after May in the executive's Getting it Right for Every Child Bill, thereview of the Children's Hearing system.
