Information sharing: London offending protocol launched

A long-awaited system for sharing information about young Londoners who live in one borough and offend in another launched last week.

The pan-London protocol, developed with the Youth Justice Board and theGovernment Office for London, aims to ensure young people's offendinghistory and other information follows them as they move. The agreementwill help the capital's 32 youth offending teams be clear about whotakes responsibility.

Ellie Roy, chief executive of the Youth Justice Board, said the protocolhad been needed for some time. "Groups like the Metropolitan PoliceService and the Crown Prosecution Service operate as one body across thecapital," she said.
