Information sharing: Departments to tackle difficulties

Cross-departmental moves are under way to tackle information sharing difficulties between health and other children's professionals, it emerged this week.

Children's minister Beverley Hughes said meetings had taken place withpublic health minister Caroline Flint and children's health ministerLiam Byrne.

Speaking at an NSPCC fringe meeting, she said: "In health, there arewell established codes of practice that make information sharingdifficult.

We have got to have some consensus that information can be shared amongprofessionals."
