Imagine this: a world without children and young people. This is the paradise envisaged by the brains behind a child-free housing development featured in a BBC Radio 4 programme.
Residents of Firhall, on the outskirts of Nairn in the Highlands, are allowed to have one dog - but no resident children. "Children and children of friends can visit and stay, but there are even limits on how often this happens," reported the BBC News website. Estate agent Lesley-Ann Fraser told programme-makers of the media's initial reaction. "The media hyped it up to such an extent you would really think anybody who wanted to live in a village like this was an ogre and they hated children," she said.
