TV for week commencing 9 November

The theme this week is "celebrities use their own sad experiences to sex up a documentary", in the case of Kym Marsh this is premature birth and for Calum Best it is living with an alcoholic parent. What do you think about this - good because it gives the subject a human edge and draws people in who might not watch otherwise? Or part of the relentless celebrification of our culture and we'd be better off having an academic or reporter fronting a programme like this?
