In the News: Excuse me young man, but have you passed your scooter-riding test?

2 mins read
The "elf and safety" team at Brighton & Hove Council is clamping down on the scourge of children on scooters.

The Sun reports that the council is offering a "Scootability" course to teach five- to seven-year-olds the "scooting highway code". Mums and dads are also being encouraged to check that scooters are in good working order and that their offspring know how to use them properly.

The Sun even enlisted its own mini-Stig to put the leading scooter models through their paces. The article is accompanied by top-tips "to make sure your kids don't come a cropper on the school run". Inspirational advice includes: "keep feet on the scooter", "keep eyes on the road" and "hold hand-grips correctly".

Perhaps the paper might offer similar advice for that other well-known readership group: white van man. Tips could include "Try to avoid mowing down pedestrians - it only messes up your paint work".
