Journalist Toure was asking stars who their most hated figure from history was. Soulja Boy thinks for a bit, then suddenly, to the sound of jaws hitting the ground, he responds with a different tack: "Hold up! Shout out to the slave masters! Without them we'd still be in Africa. We wouldn't be here to get this ice and tattoos."
The NME reported that "some fans have pointed to 18-year-old Soulja Boy's youth and inexperience as an explanation". A wicked sense of humour that lacerates the pretensions of hip hop is another.
