Mission: To help prolific young offenders move away from crime
Funding: 199,000 over two years from the Treasury
Rainer Wigan's work with prolific young offenders grew out of a scheme offering more general support to young people. The organisation realised the support scheme could be tailored specifically to 16- to 25-year-old prolific offenders.
Rainer applied for funding from the Treasury's Invest to Save budget, and secured nearly 200,000 over two years. The wider support scheme is funded through Supporting People, but using Invest to Save allowed more flexibility to meet the needs of young offenders.
The programme provides intensive support to a small number of young people. It employs two project workers who work to address the needs of young people, such as housing, health, or other requirements.
