In Practice: Extended schools conference

Funding and sustainability of extended schools will be the focus of a one-day Children Now conference to be held in London on 17 April.

Key figures from the field will feature throughout the day as will anumber of case studies on various issues affecting the sector.

Topics of discussion will include funding, the impact of extendedschools in theory and practice, partnership working and meeting theneeds of the local community. The latest policies and strategies fromGovernment will also be discussed.

Speakers include: Ann Gross, deputy director of the extended schoolsdivision at the Department for Education and Skills; Julian Piper,extended services director of ContinYou; and extended schools heads andco-ordinators from around the country.
