HUMAN RIGHTS: Antisocial behaviour bill comes under fire

The Children's Rights Alliance, which represents more than 180 agencies, is to write to Parliament's joint committee on human rights, whose job is to advise MPs and Lords on whether bills contravene human rights.

Campaigners want the committee to scrutinise the bill before its committee stage in May.

The alliance's acting national co-ordinator Terri Dowty said: "We will be urging the committee to look as soon as possible at the bill and to point out contraventions of human rights legislation to the Government."

If the Government does not change the legislation to comply, there are likely to be challenges once the bill comes into force, added Dowty.
