The council has brought in play workers who specialise in study support, and has invested in a staff training programme and IT resources for the sessions. Children and staff decided to call the sessions Jigs, which stands for junior and infant Support Groups. Southwark's after-school service works in 32 schools. Councillor Caroline Pidgeon, the council's executive member for education, said the sessions would help to raise children's educational attainment.
