Play for everyone: Disabled access built into London schoolplayground

Pupils at Cherry Garden School in Bermondsey, south London, celebrate the opening of a new playground that is accessible to pupils of all needs. The playground features a new roundabout, climbing frame, mini trampoline and science area, which are all accessible by wheelchair.

The pupils were joined by Liberal Democrat councillor Caroline Pidgeon,Southwark's executive member for children's services.

Pidgeon said the playground "offers an improved play environment thatmeets the needs of all pupils". The school works with children agedbetween two and 11 years old and currently has 19 pupils with physicaldisabilities. Staff, parents and pupils at the school worked hard toraise funds, with one teacher biking from Land's End to John o'Groats.
