The Safe Moves scheme's UK-wide expansion follows pilots in Birmingham, Ryedale, Suffolk and Wolverhampton. An evaluation of the 18-month pilots, carried out by the University of York, said the initiative had been largely successful in preventing homelessness.
According to the evaluation, the project helped keep two out of every five of the young people it supported within the family home. A total of 47 areas have signed up for the project, which will be funded by local money.
Jane Slowey, chief executive of the federation, said: "Safe Moves takes the holistic nature of the Foyer approach to the next level, considering young people's needs before they need us. Once that contact has been made, we will find many in need of our services and support. But for some, early intervention will be key to keeping their lives, and life chances, on track."
