Homelessness: Foyer learning scheme needs funds to continue

The federation is pressing for a review of Department for Education and Skills funding priorities, to ensure the sustainability of learning programmes for homeless young people.

The Learning Power Award, developed by the federation and other homelessness organisations with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), is being piloted in about 60 Foyers with funding from the LSC, and will soon be accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

But some Foyers in regions such as Suffolk are unable to secure funding to participate.

The federation is asking MPs for help in raising awareness of the range of learning Foyers offer and funding issues they face.
