YMCA England will focus on the prevention of youth homelessness and accommodation needs, while Centrepoint will concentrate on developing and promoting good practice.
Mike Fleming, director of operations at YMCA England, said: "We will recruit youth workers who will talk with young people in schools on homelessness issues."
YMCA is to also develop more lodgings schemes to help local authorities find better alternatives to bed and breakfasts for 16- and 17-year-olds.
Centrepoint will develop an online database aimed at local authorities and a forum to gain young people's views on what works in tackling homelessness.
