High flyers: National Deaf Children's Society holds annual familyfun day

More than 1,300 people turned up to this year's family fun day held by the National Deaf Children's Society. Deaf children and their families got to enjoy thrills and spills on trampolines and zip wires and took part in circus workshops, mini-quad bike riding, Brazilian football and rugby skills sessions. Matthew Shaw, 12, from Welling in Kent, is pictured zip-wiring at the event, which was held at the Heart of England Centre in Fillongley in the west Midlands.

Susan Daniels, chief executive of the society, said: "This event alloweddeaf children to meet each other and share experiences. It also enabledparents to gather useful information and share knowledge of what it islike bringing up deaf children." Children also got to try out the latesttechnology in communication aids including vibrating alarm clocks andflashing doorbells.
