Help from: SAACS

SACCS offers an integrated recovery service for children aged from four to 14 who have experienced trauma in their lives as a result of neglect or sexual, physical or emotional abuse. These children may have also experienced a variety of placement breakdowns and need help to regain their trust in adults.

The organisation is about to relaunch its practice-based training for professionals working with deeply traumatised children. A series of books on SACCS practice will also feed into this training.

Other books published by SACCS include The Child's Own Story, which is an introduction to life story work and how this tool can be used to help young people recover from abuse and a disrupted upbringing.

Children are usually referred to SACCS via local authority social services departments.
