Help From ... Fathers Direct

Fathers Direct is a national information centre for fatherhood providing resources, conferences and training courses to help professionals working with fathers.

It does much of its work in early years settings and is developing its courses from general topics into more specific areas, such as dealing with young fathers, and fathers and child protection.

Four of its courses have also been accredited at NVQ Level 3.

Fathers Direct attracted more than 900 delegates to its first national conference in April, and plans to hold a second conference around the same time next year.

Its web site features a FatherWork section for everyone working with fathers. It provides access to research materials and dates of upcoming training courses, while the Library section highlights books for fathers and their children.
